Sign Systems, Inc.'s history begins with Norris Hines. Norris's entry into the sign world starts in 1966 with industry giant Plasti-Line. While holding the position of Regional Sales Vice President, Norris oversees accounts such as Coca-Cola, Burger King, Ford, and Goodyear. In 1976, Norris leaves Plasti-Line to begin Sign Systems, Inc. in Hickory, NC. Norris later adds his two sons, Jeff and Scott Hines, as Sign Systems begins to develop into the full sign service shop that it is today. SSI continued to grow with the addition of Jeff's sons CJ and Tucker Hines. In 2002, SSI celebrated the opening of Blue Ridge Sign Systems located in Boone, NC. Today SSI continues the work ethic and principles of Norris Hines as it applies to relationships with its employees, customers, and the providing of signage solutions.

Sign Systems, Inc. HQ is located in Hickory, NC and has a full service shop in Boone, NC. SSI is a member of the South Eastern Sign Association (CJ Hines serves as the current President Elect), the International Sign Association, and are active members in the Hickory, NC, Boone, NC, and Blowing Rock, NC Chambers of Commerce. SSI is also a licensed UL shop. SSI traditionally serves the Southeast, but has also provided national program signage ranging from New York to Florida to California.
